The Cradle Board
The baby rests in the cradle board, secure and protected. The cradle board is the creation of the First Nations peoples and meant to give mothers more mobility and babies safer care during the travels when women tended the traditional ways of life preparing hides and foods. It was extremely useful in the days when the family was busy or travelling during the hunts. The baby could more easily be carried by older siblings and the cross bar in the front made sure that even if the cradle board fell forward, the baby would be protected.
