My art begins in experience strongly felt.
This print started as a very small drawing on tissue paper. I liked the graphic quality that the dried out blue and brown markers produced.
Think spring. Imagine fields just starting to emerge from winter - brown colourless ground, dried yellow grass and shallow cold water reflecting deep blue skies. And framing these fields is weathered old fence wire that sketches a tried history of its many seasons on the land.
Spring brings a simple beauty and purity - a time to shake off the detritus of a long slow winter, a time to clean and a time to honour the promise of new growth.
