Jim Johnny
Jim Johnny was born in the province of British Columbia, Canada in 1942. He is married with two children and lives in Victoria BC, the capital.Having ancestral roots with both the Coast Salish and kwaguilth native traditions he is well qualified to represent the art work of the northwest coast native people. Working with the internationally known Tony Hunt, he learned the basic forms and traditional styles of this hightly disciplined art form. Prossessing a vast store of knowledge of his people's legends and mythology he turned to prints to portray the ancient aspects of a rich and detailed culture.
Jim's design, irrespective of which medium he chooses to work with, indicate more than his artistic abillity and familiarity with the Kwaguilth tradition; they also speak loudly and clearly of his great love and respect for his native people and their traditions.
