This is a portrait of a Mohawk Medicine Man. This is how I see him. He wears a feathered headdress known as a Kustowah. It has the three eagle feathers, which is reflective of his Nation. The man is of the Bear clan. The bear holds all the secrets of Nature's healing powers. The man holds a sacred turtle rattle to conjure up spirits in the time of healing sickness. A small bird is a spirit coming to listen and give advice or to bestow knowledge of which medicines to use for healing.
