"Rosh is an original collectible, Bradley china doll, shown in oil with a life-size vase, old tulips and an oval mirror.
For still-life subject matter; the home provides an endless opportunity of placement, light source and inspiration. Most of all, the home inhabits people for portraiture.
In this painting I wanted to show the element of perishable and un-perishable. In reality the un-perishable items have an endless existence, whereas the perishable, drooping tulips didn't live to see the painting finished. My home is full of large mirrors which reflect light, creates dimension and movement and never lies about that which it captures. Every still life must have an element of life as in this case of viewing the subject matter, the drooping tulips continue to be the perishable image or life for the duration of the painting"
