Katie Lucas, a self-taught artisan, was born and raised in Thunder Bay. She received her HBSc. from Lakehead University, and completed her MSc. in Geology at Queen’s University in 2004. Katie’s dad, Bill Lucas, was a great outdoorsman and passed his true appreciation for nature on to his daughter at a very early age with childhood summers spent on Lake Nipigon and Lake Superior. Katie has always been inspired artistically and this talent eventually channeled itself into the design and creation of jewelry. Upon graduation, she formed her own company known as Feline Grey, named after her longtime pet cat, Cheesecake. All pieces are unique and “one-of-a-kind”, made from sterling silver and natural materials including gemstone, wood, bone, stone and shell. Each piece is individually named and a description of all materials is provided. Katie welcomes you to her “Back to Nature” line, with these special one-of-a-kind pieces created exclusively for the Roy Thomas Ahnisnabae Art Gallery. She also invites any requests for custom orders which can be made through Louise Thomas at the Gallery.
