Ethan Meekis Ethan is an Ojibwe from the First Nation community of Sandy Lake, a northern flying reserve north of Sioux Lookout. Born May 7, 1987 in Winnipeg, Manitoba and raised in his community. He began to take interest in portrait art while attending Dennis Franklin Cromarty School in Thunder Bay, Ontario. While in school he won an Artist of the Year award for two consecutive years in a row. He began selling portraits to friends and teachers at the school.
He’s taught himself how to paint in different styles and use different mediums. He has always had an interest in realistic drawings and paintings. In some of his work, he likes to show emotions visually and use various colors. In the future, he hopes to attend an art school to learn more about technique and use of color.
