David Fiddler is an Ojibwa - Cree and a member of the Keewaywin First Nation, a fly in community northwest of Thunder Bay, Ontario. Born in 1959 in Sioux Lookout and raised in Sandy Lake, Ontario.
He started painting off and on since the early 1980's. He is a self-taught artist, with the encouragement from elders he is inspired to keep painting and keep his art alive. David's style of art is along the Woodland style. He's always been interested in Native Art especially in painting. He began painting, because he believes his artwork can affect people by helping them to be aware of all existing life in nature.
He is motivated to keep memories of how beautiful and important the animals and their environment are. He also believes he helps by using the gift and knowledge he has to express himself through his art.
David uses acrylic paint for its attractiveness of the color it has on canvas. He enjoys learning about paints, technique for his own style.
