"This painting was inspired by the current situations of First Nations Peoples.  The swastika was traditionally a symbol of good luck and in this image the Elder sits in her wheel chair, her mouth bound by duckt tape, forbidding her to import her wisdom to the young people.

In the background are the headlines from a single daily newspaper, meant to bombard the viewer with negativity.  The current pre-occupation of our society.  The painting is a statement of hopelessness for our young people if we continue down our current path.  The $IV bag is symbolic of our peoples being a captive audience.  A people in transition adopting the ways of mainstream society and suffering to the financial gain of our  conquers.  In the last 200 years moving from a simple nomadic subsistence culture to this world,  good luck maing sense of your situation."
