Gayle Sinclaire

From the Kinosao Sipi First Nation, Gayle was raised in Norway House in Northern Manitoba and currently lives and paints in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Gayle Sinclaire capturing the feminine side of Aboriginal culture, she continues the tradition of Canadian Native women and the Woodland style of Daphine Odjig and Maxine Noel.

Initially self-taught, after completing high school in 1986, she went on to study fine arts at the University of Manitoba. During her studies Gayle rapidly advanced her techniques, concerning herself with composition, content, treatment of light and the placement and the use of colors. Content became the most important theme of all her work: the image has to carry the realm of mystery, deeply embedding hidden messages of spirituality and culture. Through all the creative experiences, Gayle has developed a unique painting style.

As a most compelling artist, her soul-filled efforts have been exhibited widely in both solo and group shows throughout Canada the United States and Europe.

1998 marks the publication of her first limited editions for the Blue Bombers Annual Fund Raising Dinner and two serigraphs co-produced with The Wah-sa Gallery.
